Dürr is responsible for the construction of the entire paint shop, including the application, automation and conveyor technology. The latter includes not only the high performance skid conveyors for 100 units per hour, but also the automated conveyor connections from the body shop and in final assembly. An important part of this concept is a high-bay warehouse for car bodies in the paint shop, which ensures an assembly compatible sequencing of the vehicles.
Hyundai benefits from Dürr's experience in this project, since the plant manufacturer has already built two paint shops for the Korean car manufacturer in China. Innovative Dürr technology like the supervisory control system EcoEMOS allows easy access to production data and in this way lowers the production costs. Dürr's proven application technology is convincing with its optimized paint and material usage, thus increasing efficiency and sustainability.
Paint application is carried out with 38 type EcoRP L033 painting robots and EcoBell2 atomizers in one primer line and two topcoat lines. All three painting lines are equipped with cleaning equipment of type Ecopaint Clean for car body cleaning prior to painting. Seam sealing and underbody protection is performed with 15 EcoRS sealing robots.
As with the previous plant, the experienced project team will realize quick delivery times. Already as early as second half of 2012, this plant will paint 300 000 different Hyundai models per year – with an option to expand capacity to 400 000 car bodies per year.
