Ralf W. Dieter, CEO of Dürr AG, was delighted with the award in the 'Total Value Management Excellence' category. "This award underlines the close, long-term relations between Volvo Group Trucks and our company", he said. "Our systems play a major part in making production processes more efficient for this commercial vehicle manufacturer."
The collaboration between Volvo Group Trucks and Dürr began in 1983. Since then, the mechanical and plant engineering firm has completed many projects for the commercial vehicle manufacturer, such as the expansion of a paint shop in Curitiba (Brazil) in 2013 – without interrupting production. A year later Dürr installed test stands for chassis and driver assistance systems at the same site. In 2015 Dürr completed the construction of a paint shop in Kaluga (Russia). Volvo Group Trucks' New River Valley site (United States) is currently being expanded to include a plastic component paint shop. In addition, the existing system is being upgraded so it will also be suitable for painting Mack Trucks cabs.
Manfred Weil, who heads up Dürr's Paint and Final Assembly Systems division, accepted the award in Gothenburg. He thanked Volvo Group Trucks for the award, "which also goes to our employees for their commitment. We will continue the collaboration in future projects and support Volvo Group Trucks in their goal: to become the world leader for sustainable transport solutions."
Volvo Group Trucks with its brands Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks and Eicher Motors belongs to the Volvo Group. The world's second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer works with around 30,000 suppliers. The Volvo Group also includes Volvo Buses and Volvo Construction Equipment (for construction machines and drive systems).
