The paint shop realized in two construction phases was commissioned in 2013 and 2015, respectively. This is a plant of the type Eco+Paintshop, which is particularly low on resource consumption. It uses less than 500 kilowatt-hours of energy per car body painted, equivalent to only a third of what was needed only ten years ago. A key contribution in this regard is made by Dürr’s EcoDryScrubber technology, which enables energy consumption per paint booth to be reduced by up to 60%. The consumption of water and paint as well as space requirements partly also saw a sharp reduction.
During an on-site inspection of the paint shop, Dürr’s Management Board member Ralph Heuwing said: “The primary focus of Dürr’s innovation work is on lowering the energy and material consumption of our products. With the aid of consumption-optimized plant and equipment, we support our customers with cost-efficient and sustainable production solutions.”
