Dürr Group achieves highest award in the EcoVadis sustainability rating

Bietigheim-Bissingen, March 14, 2024 — The Dürr Group has for the first time received the highest award, a platinum medal, in the EcoVadis sustainability rating. This places the mechanical and plant engineering firm in the top 1% of all companies rated by EcoVadis. Compared to the last rating, the Group was able to improve its overall score from 72 to 80 points. This was primarily due to progress in the areas of sustainable procurement, environment, and labor & human rights.

Since 2007, the independent EcoVadis rating agency has been assessing the sustainability performance of over 100,000 companies using a scale of 1 to 100 points. A platinum medal is awarded for a score of 80 or higher. The EcoVadis rating is based on 21 criteria from the four areas of sustainable procurement, environment, labor & human rights and ethics.

Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, CEO of Dürr AG: “The EcoVadis award reflects the great progress we have made in the area of sustainability in recent years. We started with bronze status, improved from silver to gold last year, and have now achieved the platinum medal. This development encourages us to consistently continue on our chosen path and to further expand our sustainability activities. Our customers also rely on our sustainability competence: With our energy-efficient and low-emission technologies, we support them in making their production processes more environmentally compatible.”

The EcoVadis rating also has an impact on the Dürr Group’s financing costs. As such, the interest rates for outstanding Schuldschein loans with a total volume of €485 million are partly linked to the rating. This means that environmentally and socially responsible business practices also benefit the company financially, for example through lower interest rates.

The Dürr Group is one of the world's leading mechanical and plant engineering firms with particular expertise in the technology fields of automation, digitalization, and energy efficiency. Its products, systems, and services enable highly efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes – mainly in the automotive industry and for producers of furniture and timber houses, but also in sectors such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, medical devices, electrical engineering, and battery production. In 2023, the company generated sales of €4.6 billion. The Dürr Group has over 20,500 employees and 142 business locations in 32 countries, and it operates in the market with five divisions:
