Strong customer orientation and innovations
Heinz Dürr Awards presented to employees
Perfect paint surfaces, helpful developments and exemplary commitment: Employees of the Dürr Group were honored with the Heinz Dürr Award for outstanding innovative or customer-oriented performance. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Heinz Dürr, Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board, after whom the award is named, personally awarded the five prizes. The winners introduced themselves and their projects in short films.
One of the winners is a Dürr team that developed the → EcoReflect light tunnel for the quality control of paint surfaces. The innovative lighting concept makes it much easier to detect even the smallest defects in the paint structure of car bodies. In the EcoReflect, workers benefit from an ergonomic working position and trouble-free working conditions for concentrated work over an extended period of time. Another strength: The LED technology used requires less than half the energy compared to conventional fluorescent tubes. The light tunnel is currently in use by several automobile manufacturers worldwide.
At the Schenck subsidiary in India, employees developed two machines for checking tires for motorized two-wheelers. They serve to detect and correct any geometric deviations and unbalances. With this technology, Schenck has completed its product portfolio in this area and supports tire manufacturers in meeting the increasing quality demands of their customers.
Further prizes were awarded to teams that had optimized an internal production process or had shown special commitment on a construction site for new painting lines. A service employee from the subsidiary HOMAG also received an award. He had reacted quickly when a customer experienced machine breakdown and solved the problem in an exemplary manner.
The Heinz Dürr Awards have been presented since 2001. Applications could be submitted in the categories “Innovation” and – for the first time – “Customer Experience”. In the current year, “Sustainability” has been added as a further category.
