"Past, Present & Future at your fingertips – Advanced Analytics for your factory" – this is the main focus of iTAC’s and Cogiscan’s joint booth at IPC APEX EXPO 2023, where iTAC will be presenting the functions and components of its MOM system to an international audience.
Data collection and analysis – essential in the Smart Factory
"Data and key figures in production support those responsible in gaining transparency about the processes and in deriving improvement measures and evaluating these in turn. In this way, cost, quality, and time factors can be optimized. We support the implementation of these goals with our iTAC.SMT.Edge machine integration platform, which serves to standardize and centralize data. The subsequent data analysis in real time and further processing is handled by the iTAC.IIoT.Edge software," explains Martin Strempel, Business Development Manager Data Analytics at iTAC Software AG.
The iTAC.IIoT.Edge analysis tool can, among other things, combine IIoT data with MES data to form flat data structures and analyze this data in real time. The MOM system in combination with the iTAC.IIoT.Edge is able to correlate and interpret measurement data with product and machine information. The Edge software combines streaming and batch analytics on a central scalable platform with out-of-the-box access to MES data.
The iTAC.SMT.Edge machine integration platform, the result of a collaboration between iTAC and Cogiscan, consolidates data on the shop floor and distributes it to higher-level systems. This edge solution provides meaningful and relevant dashboards to display machine and line performance in real time. It provides a detailed analysis of production history as well as area-specific KPIs and metrics relevant to SMT manufacturers.
Use Cases Based on AI and ML for SMT Manufacturing
By using the two edge solutions as components of the MOM system, numerous use cases for modern SMT production can be implemented. One example is AOI false call reduction through automatic optical inspection. The use of AI/ML models to analyze AOI data reduces false calls. This also makes it possible to classify whether an inspected PCB has real or pseudo errors. SPI false call reductions for solder paste inspection and other false call reductions can also be performed. Another option is automatic X-ray inspection, which provides greater process reliability when inspecting assembled PCBs. This leads to quality and process improvements in production
"Data is the basis for the optimization of production processes and new value-added opportunities in the smart factory. The scope for action that results from the use of the iTAC.MOM.Suite in combination with analysis functions is extensive. We will provide a comprehensive overview at APEX," explains Peter Bollinger, CEO of iTAC Software AG.
