The 13 projects rewarded at the SURCAR International Awards amongst the 4 categories (Environmental Footprint, Customer driven Quality Achievement, Lean, Plant and Process Design, Start Up and Commissioning) perfectly reflect these orientations for the future.
In the category Environmental Footprint the awards were given to distinguish Project teams who managed to respect new environmental regulations by reducing VOC Emissions, reduced Energy consumption and sustainable waste treatment in the PaintShop.
The EcoBell Cleaner D2 received the awards for the subcategory Technological Innovation as well as for Paint Consumption. The Cleaner offers a fully automated solution for cleaning atomizers. It reduces solvent use for each cleaning cycle to just 50 ml, from a previous 500 ml. This way, by reducing solvent waste, it prevents much VOCs from entering the booth air, thus reducing VOC emissions.
The EcoBell Cleaner D2’s greatest strength is that it can simultaneously perform both external cleaning and internal rinsing. Cleaning takes just 15 seconds to complete and occurs during the normally unproductive paint load-time—true time efficiency at work!
A third award Dürr received in the category "Start up and Commissioning – Greenfield Project" together with BMW and Schiller-Group for the BMW Brilliance Tiexi Paintshop. The paint shop, which was built by Dürr in Shenyang, China set the benchmark in recent years in environmental footprint and production efficiency. The Schiller-Group is specialist for warehouse technology and logistics.
