The Heinz Dürr Awards have been presented since 2001. Applications could be submitted in the categories “Innovation” and – for the first time – “Customer Experience”. Each winning team received € 7,500 in recognition of the accomplishment.
One of the winners is a Dürr team that developed the EcoReflect light tunnel for the quality control of paint surfaces. The innovative and energy-saving lighting concept makes it much easier to detect even the smallest defects in the paint structure of car bodies. A prize was also awarded to Dürr employees in Germany and China. Together, they had optimized the production process of plant components for paint shops, for example dryer modules.
At the Schenck subsidiary in India, employees developed two machines for testing tires for motorized two-wheelers. They serve to detect and correct any geometric deviations and unbalances. With these machines, Schenck has been able to complete its product portfolio in this area and supports tire manufacturers in meeting the increasing quality demands of their customers.
Quick support in case of emergency
Apart from these new developments, the jury of the Heinz Dürr Award was impressed by one HOMAG service employee. He had shown particular commitment when repairing a machine breakdown at a furniture manufacturer’s site.
Another award went to a Dürr team working extra shifts when constructing new painting lines. Without this commitment, which continued even over the Christmas holidays, a German car manufacturer would have had to suspend production longer than planned. When another plant manufacturer was unable to continue this work, Dürr took over at short notice and made up for the backlog of the project.
The winners introduced themselves and their projects in short films of about three minutes. The films were shown at the awards ceremony and almost all of them can be found below.
