The digital platform launched by Dürr subsidiary HOMAG provides all required information on production as well as on the machines, tools and materials used. This ensures maximum transparency for furniture manufacturers and other companies in the woodworking industry. Big-data analysis enables "tapio" users to develop optimization measures for their production. It is thus possible, for example, to automatically plan the best way to handle orders using existing machines, to identify what tools and materials are required, and to schedule predictive maintenance measures. Another advantage is that the anonymized data can be retrieved from the cloud at any time and will therefore not be lost.
All new machines offered by HOMAG are cloud-ready and can communicate with "tapio". Existing machines made by HOMAG or other manufacturers can be easily upgraded with a "tapio" interface. Thanks to modern security technology, the system meets the most stringent data protection requirements. In developing the digital platform, HOMAG worked with world-renowned technology partners such as Microsoft and Software AG.
Pekka Paasivaara, CEO of HOMAG Group AG: "We want to lead the entire market safely into the digital future with tapio. The IoT platform covers all stages of the value chain in the woodworking industry. Our aim is to make it the new industry standard that will benefit as many companies as possible."
The HOMAG Group will present "tapio" to their customers between May 22 and 26, 2017, at the Ligna trade fair for the woodworking industry in Hanover. HOMAG has been part of the Dürr Group since 2014 and is world market leader in woodworking machinery with sales of € 1.1 billion and a workforce of around 6,100 employees. "tapio" has been developed as part of the digital@Dürr strategy, launched to enable the Dürr Group to support its customers from different industries in digitizing their production processes.
