The European Union's climate targets for the up-coming decades are ambitious. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 55 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. Ultimately, the EU is to be completely climate-neutral by 2050. In addition to stricter emissions regulations, growing environmental awareness in society is also demonstrating the importance of sustainability in the automotive industry. Added to this is consumers' rising interest in environmentally friendly vehicles. Consequently, automotive manufacturers and suppliers must reassess the sustainability of their products and value chains. The biggest challenge they face in doing so: Complying with legal requirements while ensuring cost-efficient production and meeting consumer demands. These are reflected, for example, in the continuing strong interest in two-tone vehicles. All these aspects, together with the ever-increasing digitization of processes, are of course also affecting car body painting.
